Adjunct Instructor, Zofia Antes
Biography & Credentials
 Zofia Antes - the resident of Warsaw, Poland - was born on the 8th of May 1973 in Pszczyna, Silesia, Southern Poland
and began piano lessons at the age of seven at the Primary School of
Music in her family town. In 1988 she entered the State Music Gimnasium
in Bielsko-Biala where she continued her musical education under Mrs.
Ditlinda Czyz. In 1992 she graduated and as the award for exceptional
results she was invited to perform Beethoven Piano Concerto No4 with
one of state orchestras.
From 1992 till 1998 she studied at the Karol Szymanowski Academy
of Music in Katowice under supervision of well known Polish pianist Pawel Skrzypek.
She also studied under Professor Czeslaw Stanczyk (piano, graduating
from his class at 1998) and Professor Maria Szwajger-Kulakowska (piano
chamber music). On her graduation she received the Diploma with Special
Distinctions and the scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture.
Zofia Antes participated in many piano competitions. Three
times she was the winner of prestigious All-Polish Fr. Chopin Art
Scholarship Piano Competition, organized annually by the Fr. Chopin
Society in Warsaw. The last time she won the First Prize. In the result
of this success she is regularly invited by the Fr. Chopin Society to
play recitals around the country and in Chopin birthplace - Zelazowa
Wola. Recently she has started to perform regularly with many
philharmonic orchestras in Poland performing several piano concertos
(Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninov). She has also begun steady performances
with the renowned “Akademos” String Quartet. Between 1995 and 2002 she
performed in the United States (California, Hawaii and Washington)
presenting both recital and chamber music programs (Brahms Piano
Quintet). Since 1995 she has performed many times in the United States
(California, Hawaii, and Washington) presenting recital, chamber music,
and symphonic programs (Brahms Piano Quintet, Mozart Piano Concerto
KV595, and Schumann Piano Concerto).
Zofia Antes becomes very active as a piano teacher. In
September 2000 she began a full time teaching at the Frederic Chopin
School of Music in Warsaw. She works as an assistant to Pawel Skrzypek in a number of piano master courses in Poland (among them – in the renowned Warsaw Piano Workshop) and abroad.
