2005 & 2004 SCHOLARSHIPS

[ 2002 - 2003 Scholarship Awards, 1999 - 2001 Scholarship Awards ]

Scholarships Awarded for 2005

GCPI Scholarship for 2005 went to Kenric Tam
Kenric Tam
2005 - USA

As the most promising young American participant in Gold Country Piano Workshop in 2005, Kenric Tam has been chosen to attend the Warsaw Piano Workshop in August on scholarship. He lives in Los Altos, California and is a student of John McCarthy. His large and challenging repertoire for study at GCPI did not even include Prokofiev’s 6th Piano Sonata, the 4th movement of which our instructors chose for him to play in the Grande Finale Concert.

In August, he takes off in an adventure to the home of Frederick Chopin, so other scholars say, you can feel the presence of Chopin, and where he will no doubt visit the master’s home, preserved just as he left it, and study with Polish students of the piano, no doubt even learning some of that difficult language.

What a wonderful world of cross cultures we live in! We’ll hear from Kenric when he returns.

Scholarships Awarded for 2004
