Paul Perry
Paul Perry is one of the creators of the Music in the Mountains Festival,
as well as its Conductor and Artistic Director. He teaches, coaches
singers and instrumentalists, and has served as a panelist with the California Arts Council,
as well as carrying out his directing and fundraising duties for Music
in the Mountains. In 1985 he received the Elly Award for outstanding
musical direction from the Sacramento Area Regional Theater Alliance.
Mr. Perry is a graduate of Rollins College and Florida State
University, and has studied with such notable teachers as Robert Page,
Carlisle Floyd, John Carter, Ross Rosazza and Clayton Krehbiel. He is
an active performer and has appeared with many groups throughout the
Southeast, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Northern California as a
conductor, pianist, and ensemble player.
He takes particular pride in the accolades he has received for the
Music in the Mountains Festival. In addition to his work in Nevada
County, Mr. Perry serves as Artistic Director for the Desert Foothills MusicFest in Carefree, Arizona, which debuted in January 1992.
