He teaches, coaches singers and instrumentalists, and has served as a panelist with the California Arts Council, as well as carrying out his directing and fundraising duties for Music in the Mountains. In 1985 he received the Elly Award for outstanding musical direction from the Sacramento Area Regional Theater Alliance.

Mr. Perry is a graduate of Rollins College and Florida State University, and has studied with such notable teachers as Robert Page, Carlisle Floyd, John Carter, Ross Rosazza and Clayton Krehbiel. He is an active performer and has appeared with many groups throughout the Southeast, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Northern California as a conductor, pianist, and ensemble player.

He takes particular pride in the accolades he has received for the Music in the Mountains Festival. In addition to his work in Nevada County, Mr. Perry serves as Artistic Director for the Desert Foothills MusicFest in Carefree, Arizona, which debuted in January 1992.
