My father's side of the family is comprised entirely
of musicians, and he plays all sorts of keyboard instruments so,
naturally, he started me out on the piano.
My favorite composers are Chopin and Bach…Chopin to play and Bach to listen and try to play reasonably well.
I
am the first generation from my family to be born in the United States.
All of my immediate family comes from Poland and in our home, we speak
only Polish.
I have attended the Fryderyk Chopin Polish
Saturday School in Palatine, Illinois since I was very young. I love
the Polish culture and I am very proud to have been able to learn about
my roots. I am able to speak, read, and write Polish fluently.
I
graduated from the elementary school with honors and, last year, I
graduated from the high school as school valedictorian. I have also
been studying French for the past four years in high school and I plan
to continue to study French in college.
A couple of years ago
I attended the Warsaw Piano Workshop. This was my first visit to
Poland. I was captivated by the energy, charm and elegance of Warsaw
and also amazed at the deep history of the land. I have many family
members in Poland so they were able to show me around.
I have one brother , ten years old, who also plays the piano and attends Polish Saturday school.
Michael is 18 (GCPI 2005) and has played the piano since he was five years old.
