You were born in 1984, and so you’re nearly twenty years old. How long have you been playing the piano?
I have been playing the piano since I was 3 and a half years old.
Do you play other musical instruments?
I don’t play any other musical instruments, just piano!
How did you happen to study piano?
My
mother played piano a lot at home, and she told me that when I was
little, I always enjoyed listening to music and soon had a desire to
learn how to play.
Who are your favorite composers? For playing?
Liszt
For listening?
Tchaikovsky or Rachmaninoff
You attend the University of Indiana. I assume that you’re majoring in music. Do you have a minor?
I am majoring in piano performance, and no, I don’t have a minor.
Have you tried composing?
I am learning how to compose in theory, and I do find it an interest.
We Americans are notorious for not learning other languages. Are you an exception?
I am currently taking Japanese.
Does your family speak Japanese?
My mother speaks Japanese fluently; it is her native language.
To what other countries have you traveled?
Japan
What did you like about that country?
I enjoyed visiting family.
Do you have sisters and/or brothers?
A sister, 17 years old

My favorite dinner is Japanese curry with rice.
Breakfast is a problem for many Americans to the amazement of more traditional cultures.
What do you eat for breakfast?
Usually I eat a banana or yogurt in the morning.
Do you cook?
Not very well, I burn toast.
